Kabigting is a self-taught artist, well known for his paintings on antique wooden batya, and on reclaimed wood featuring idyllic Filipino scenery and life. He grew up in San Juan, Manila, and his family roots originate from Pampangga. He has lived in Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Antipolo, and New York City. He currently calls Iloilo City home. He is married, has two children, and two grandchildren.
Kabigting utilizes various materials such as oil, acrylic, and watercolors, as each medium manifests its own individual effects which creatively captures the subjects he depicts on each piece he creates. He has also worked with wood, metal and glass in his earlier years.
Kabigting's inspiration stems from childhood memories of home, and dreams of Filipino sceneries of life. He finds that he is able to express his joy and appreciation for the simple things, and for all things Filipino through his art, where his physical limitations cannot serve as a barrier for self expression.
